Who can do a Fork Lift Truck MOT?

The Thorough Examination or Fork Lift Truck MOT has to be carried out by an accredited examiner. The examiner has to be authorised as a Competent Person with a minimum of five years as a fork lift truck service engineer.

A ‘Competent Person’ is an examiner with practical and theoretical knowledge and experience of lifting equipment. The examiner must have passed a Thorough Examination course and a revalidation course at least every five years approved by the Consolidated Fork Truck Services Ltd (CFTS). The CFTS, with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), developed the Thorough Examination Scheme.Certificate of Compliance

After the examination, your firm will receive a certificate of compliance and each fork lift truck will show its Thorough Examination status. Only companies officially accredited to CFTS are allowed issue the CFTS kitemark stickers to be displayed on trucks that have passed the Thorough Examination.
